Mission Statement

The Counseling Program is focused on helping all students achieve success in their academic work, social development and personal growth. We believe that every student has potential and within a safe, supportive school environment, can be empowered to make good choices and be a positive & productive member of the community.

About the Program

Guidance and counseling services are provided by a licensed mental health professional. Students, parents, teachers, and staff may consult with the counselor on a confidential basis.

Students may talk with the counselor to discuss any academic, personal, emotional, or social issues by coming to the counseling office and signing in to make an appointment.

Services Provided

  • Individual counseling sessions with students utilizing a brief, solution-focused approach.
  • Small group counseling.
  • Classroom guidance lessons.
  • Referrals to outside counseling providers and community agencies.
  • Academic advisement.
  • Staff and parent consultation/collaboration.

School counselors recognize their primary obligation regarding confidentiality is to the student but balance that obligation with an understanding of the family or guardians’ legal and inherent rights to be the guiding voice in their children’s lives (ASCA, 2016).

All issues discussed with the counselor will remain confidential, with the following exceptions:

  • The student reports current or future self harm or harm to others.
  • The student reports abuse or neglect.
  • The student gives the counselor permission to disclose confidential information.
