Attendance

Report Absences: (505) 877-6444, Prompt 2

Attendance is critical to your child's success, and missing school for even one day makes it tough for students to catch up. Please support your child's attendance and contact the school if you need help or have questions.

Attendance Promotion & Truancy Prevention

Bus Privileges

Students will be expected to ride the correct bus daily in their assigned seats. Students cannot ride a different bus with your friends nor can they ride your bus. Riding the bus is a privilege so rules must be followed at ALL times! Disciplinary action will result for students who cannot maintain appropriate conduct on the bus and ALL rules that apply at school are in effect as well. The bus driver may also have more specific rules so make sure you understand them. The following consequences will be in effect from day one.

  • First Referral: Meeting with administration. You will be given a warning and notice will be sent home for signature. If the referral is not brought back signed within 24 hours, family/guardian contact will be made and that will move you to the third step.
  • Second Referral: Family/guardian contact will be made.
  • Third Referral: 3-day suspension with family/guardian conference.
  • Fourth Referral: 5-day suspension with family/guardian notification.
  • Fifth Referral: 10-day suspension with a family/guardian conference with driver and administration within that 10 day period
  • Sixth Referral: Suspension for the remainder of the 9 week period.

Electronic Devices

Student Rights and Responsibilities

Electronic devices shall be kept out of sight and powered off or silenced during the school day and during any school-sponsored activity meeting or practice held on Albuquerque Public Schools property. Students cannot use their electronic devices between 8:05 AM and 2:50 PM. If an electronic device is out during the school day, it will be confiscated and turned in to the office.

The student who possesses a personal electronic device shall be solely responsible for its care. Do not ever allow other students to use your items as the rules apply whether you have it or someone else has it! Cell phones must be kept in a backpack if they are to have them during the day. During class time, backpacks are in a designated area of the classroom not with the student at their desk.

If you want to assure the safety of your device then it can be checked in at the office before school and picked up after school. This assures it would not be lost or stolen.

Unauthorized Use

Unauthorized use of personal electronic devices includes, but is not limited to, the following:

  1. If an electronic device is out during the school day, it will be confiscated and turned in to the office.
  2. Possessing, viewing, sending, or sharing video or audio information having sexual, violent or threatening content on school grounds, school events or school busses shall be prohibited and may result in disciplinary action and/or confiscation of the personal electronic device.
  3. Transmitting school materials for unethical purposes such as cheating is prohibited.
  4. Any activity which may be in violation of the Albuquerque Public Schools Bullying Prevention policy and procedural directive.

Consequences

Note: These consequences will be enforced, even if someone else has your phone or another personal electronic device.

  • First Offense: Your parent/legal guardian may retrieve the personal electronic device from the administrative office within thirty minutes of the start or end of the instructional day. Parents/guardians must sign the personal electronic device out from the log kept in the administrative office.
  • Second Offensive: Your parent/legal guardian may retrieve the personal electronic device no sooner than seven days after its date of confiscation within thirty minutes of the start or end of the instructional day. Parents/guardians must sign the personal electronic device out from the log kept in the administrative office.
  • Third Offense: Your parent/legal guardian may retrieve the personal electronic device at the end of the semester in which the device was confiscated within thirty minutes of the start or end of the instructional day.
